Viva! Longganisa Festival
Vigan is a popular tourist destination for its museums and architecture. But it is also known for Longganisa, a local salami. This dish is prepared according to centuries-old traditions and has a truly unique taste. There have been several attempts to recreate the combination of sliced savory meat, cane vinegar, and garlic, but nothing compares to local chefs. At the end of January, the city of Vigan celebrates a fiesta and the Longganisa Festival is part of its festive programme. It is usually celebrated between January 22nd and 25th, but the dates vary from year to year. During the festival, all visitors can taste authentic Vigan Longganisa. Locals usually eat longganisa for breakfast, but the food itself is too delicious to eat only in the morning.
